Privacy Policy

Effective September 8, 2026

The Grin Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a video production studio serving Orange County and Los Angeles, California. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you request a consultation, take our media presence test, or contact us, we collect the details you choose to share: your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and the content of your messages or test answers.

Information collected automatically. This site uses analytics and advertising technologies. Google Analytics 4 and the Google tag record how the site is used and whether a visit that began with one of our ads led to a booking or a request. The Meta pixel records the same kind of outcome for our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Between them these tools set first party cookies in your browser (names beginning _ga, _gcl and _fbp) and receive your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you open, and the actions you take here. If you reached us from an ad, the click identifier in the link (gclid, gbraid, wbraid or fbclid) is stored so the advertising platform can match the click to the result.

When you complete a booking or request your media presence report, we may pass your email address to Google and Meta in an irreversibly hashed form so they can confirm that the conversion belongs to an earlier ad click. The hashing happens inside your browser before anything is transmitted, and neither platform receives your address in readable form from us. This is switched off entirely if you send an opt out signal, as described in section 4.

Session recording and heatmaps. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people actually use the page. Clarity records your visit as a replay: the pages you open, where you move and click, how far you scroll, and the size of your screen, together with your IP address and browser details, and it aggregates these visits into heatmaps. It sets its own first party cookies (names beginning _clck and _clsk) to recognize the same visit and the same browser on a later one. Clarity masks the text you type into forms by default, so the recordings are not meant to capture your name, email address, phone number or anything else you enter here. Microsoft processes this on our behalf and may also use the data in line with its own privacy statement. We use it only to find what is confusing or broken on the site, never to build a profile of you or to target advertising.

The site also stores two small values in your own browser that never leave your device: an anonymous identifier for the media presence test, so a finished test and a later report request count as one person, and a record of which conversions have already been reported, so a page reload cannot count the same booking twice. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability, and measures page views without cookies. Our policy pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives the technical request data needed to deliver the font files.

2. How we use your information

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use the Google and Meta advertising tools described above, and under California law the information those tools receive counts as being shared for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can stop that sharing at any time using the opt out in section 4. Apart from that, we share information only with:

4. Cookies and tracking signals

The site sets analytics, session recording and advertising cookies, as described in section 1. You can block or delete them in your browser settings at any time; the site keeps working without them.

How to opt out of advertising. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or an extension sends one, we automatically treat it as a request to stop sharing your personal information for advertising: the Meta pixel is not loaded at all, no advertising cookies or identifiers are set, and no hashed email is ever sent. Basic analytics continues so we can see how the site performs. Global Privacy Control is built into some browsers and available as an extension for others, and using it is a valid opt out under California law. You may also email us at the address below to make the same request by hand. Older “Do Not Track” signals have no agreed meaning and are not acted on; use Global Privacy Control instead.

5. Your rights and choices

You may ask us at any time to:

California residents may also exercise their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the rights to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To make any request, email us at the address below. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law requires.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above: for correspondence, as long as our conversation stays active plus a reasonable period; for client records, as long as the engagement and legal requirements demand; for marketing, until you unsubscribe. Google and Meta keep the advertising data they receive under their own retention policies, which we do not control.

7. Security

We use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we limit access to your information to the people and providers who need it.

8. Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. We review the policy at least once every 12 months.
